The Cabbage Patch Doll.
The Cabbage Patch Doll.
I can remember as a child, I wanted a Cabbage Patch Doll. My
mom got me one, and I play with it as if it was a real baby. Once, I had my
daughter, I knew her first costume would be a just that, a Cabbage Patch Doll.
Before beginning the costume design, I knew I had to find
the iconic hair piece for the costume, bangs with pigtails. I turned to trusty
Google, which led me to the perfect one. I found a shop on Etsy, that crochets hats
that resembles the iconic hair. Once I placed the order, it was time to work on
the prop.
Using a Roku Tv box, I created a doll box to capture the
perfect pictures of my baby. I had my husband spray paint it yellow, while I
cut out some flowers and a logo on my Cricut machine. I sealed the window of
the box with some cellophane, from the Dollar Tree, and wrap the inside with wrapping paper.
The Outfit:
I found a free SVG on the internet of the cabbage patch
logo. Using my Cricut machine, I cut out an image on heat transfer vinyl ( HTV)
and placed the image on a Gerber Onesie. I made a tutu out of 6-inch tulle on the
roll, and some ribbon. Just like that, my cabbage patch doll was alive!!
